Slotwise
Which iPhones and iPads can scan?
Scanning uses Apple's Object Capture, which needs a device with a LiDAR camera on iOS 18 or later: iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max or later Pro models, or an iPad Pro from 2020 on. On other iPhones and iPads you can still design trays, bins, racks, hooks and cups and lay out your board.
Does Slotwise work on iPad?
Yes. Slotwise runs on iPad in any orientation, and in Split View, Slide Over and Stage Manager. In landscape the tabs become a sidebar and your boards show as a grid of cards, with a board's layout beside its holders. The AR preview works on every iPad; scanning needs an iPad with LiDAR.
How do I get a good scan?
- Scan three sides next to each other, such as left, top and right. Glossy plastic often won't line up if you flip it right over.
- Use even light, and put the object on a plain surface with some space around it.
- If part of it pivots or folds, like a saw's guard or a headphone band, scan it in the position it will hang.
How do I print a holder?
Slotwise works with any 3D printer. Share the holder as a 3MF and pick your printer type. "Bambu Lab" makes a project for Bambu Studio with the print settings in place, and you can switch to your own printer model there. "Other printer" makes a 3MF with the same settings for PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer and similar slicers. You can also share a plain STL for any slicer. Every holder prints on its back with no supports. We test in PETG.
How many clips does a holder need?
Slotwise works out the clip count from the object's weight with a safety factor of three, using clip strengths we measured. If you've pull-tested your own clips, enter the results in Settings > Clip strengths.
What does Slotwise Pro add?
Everything is free to try, and your first three holders export free. Slotwise Pro is a one-time purchase with no subscription. It unlocks unlimited exports and sharing boards with other people.
I bought Pro on another iPhone or iPad. How do I get it back?
Open Settings in Slotwise, tap Slotwise Pro, then Restore purchase. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with. If Family Sharing is on, your family can use Pro too.
My boards aren't syncing
Boards, holders and scans sync through your own iCloud. Check that both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on. Big scans can take a few minutes to arrive on another device.
How do I delete my data?
Delete a scan, holder or board in the app and it's removed from your iCloud too. See the privacy policy for what Slotwise stores and where.
Safe use and no warranty
Slotwise designs the holder. You print it, test it and decide what it can carry. The app asks you to agree to this before your first export, and you can read it again in Settings > About.
- Test every print. Before trusting a holder, load it by hand with more than the object weighs, and check for cracks, weak layers and loose clips. Look again now and then: plastic creeps and ages.
- Your print sets the strength. Material, printer, slicer settings, layer bonding, walls and how the board is fixed to the wall all change how much a holder can take. Slotwise can't see any of them.
- Strengths are estimates. Clip and hook strengths and the 3× safety margin come from a few home tests in PETG on one board. Your prints and board may hold less.
- Hang things safely. Don't hang anything over people, pets or walkways, and nothing dangerous, sharp, fragile or valuable you can't afford to drop. Keep holders away from heat and from children.
- No warranty. Slotwise and its designs are provided as is, without warranty. You print and use them at your own risk, and we aren't liable for damage or injury from anything you print or hang.

Time Machine Display
What do I need to run it?
A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 26 Tahoe or later. Download the installer from the Time Machine Display page and double-click it. It's signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so there's no Terminal step.
Why does it ask for Full Disk Access?
macOS protects Time Machine backups, so reading what's inside them (comparing backups, file history, the storage map) needs Full Disk Access. Without it the app still shows your backup schedule, capacity, exclusions and live progress. macOS doesn't let apps ask for this permission with a prompt, so you turn it on yourself in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access. The installer's last screen and the app both walk you through it.
Why is a backup marked as a suspected failure?
Time Machine records when it tried to back up and when a backup finished. When an attempt has no finished backup within the next hour, the app marks it as a suspected failure. It says "suspected" because macOS doesn't document these records, so the app won't claim more than they show.
Why are some sizes shown as "not computed"?
Backup sizes are easy to get wrong, because APFS clones and hard links make a simple measurement read many times too large. The app shows each backup's change size straight from Time Machine's records, measures churn between two backups only when you ask, and leaves anything it can't work out cheaply as "not computed" rather than guessing.
How do I update or uninstall it?
If you allow update checks, the app tells you when a new version is out. To remove it, choose Uninstall from the app menu, or drag the app to the Trash and its background helper removes itself.
Plainswalker
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad with iOS 26 or later, plus a paired Apple Watch if you have one. Plainswalker is in open beta: join on TestFlight and new builds arrive automatically.
Why don't I see "In a nutshell" summaries?
Summaries and AI answers in the Ask tab come from Apple Intelligence, so they need an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence, with it turned on. Without it, every card still gets its ability-by-ability breakdown, and the Ask tab shows the official rules that match your question.
How do I get a good scan?
Hold the card flat and close enough that its name is sharp. The scanner waits until it can read the title cleanly before it opens the card. In poor light, take a photo and use Scan from Photo, or type the name into Search, which forgives misspellings.
Does it work offline?
Mostly. The rulebook, the glossary and the on-device AI work without a connection. Looking up a card you haven't opened before needs the internet.
Is it free?
Yes. Plainswalker is free, unofficial fan content, and nothing is locked behind a purchase. If you'd like to help with its upkeep, there's an optional contribution on the Plainswalker page.
